This site aggregates all official US government recall, complaint, and investigation records for motor vehicles, organizing them by year, make, and model rather than VIN. This structure allows buyers to evaluate a model's safety history before purchase—a capability VIN lookups cannot provide.

Data sources

Data is sourced from daily public domain updates published by NHTSA (for vehicles) and CPSC (for consumer products). We process and present these official records in a structured format.

Fidelity of safety descriptions

Descriptions of defects, safety risks, and remedies are quoted verbatim from official manufacturer filings. They are intentionally unedited. Paraphrasing or omitting key information—such as an engine stalling risk—can compromise owner safety.

Limitations

This platform cannot confirm whether a specific individual vehicle is affected. Recalls usually apply to specific build-date ranges within a model year. Always verify your 17-character Vehicle Identification Number at nhtsa.gov/recalls before taking action.

Data currency

Data files are refreshed daily. By law, manufacturers have up to five business days to report a safety defect to NHTSA, meaning a delay may occur before a new recall appears in public databases.
