Defect description

PIERCE IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2008-2009 ARROW XT VEHICLES BUILT WITH CATERPILLAR C13 2007 ENGINES. THE THREE UPPER AIR CLEANER BRACKET FASTENERS MAY LOOSEN AND FALL OUT. IF THIS OCCURS THE AIR CLEANER AND BRACKET MAY FALL ONTO THE ENGINE AND START A FIRE.

Safety risk

IF AN UNDER CAB FIRE OCCURS, THE ENGINE OPERATION COULD BE AFFECTED AND A CRASH MAY OCCUR.

Manufacturer remedy

PIERCE WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL REPAIR THE VEHICLES FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING MAY 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT PIERCE AT 1-888-974-3723.
