Defect description

A COLLISION COULD RESULT IN A FUEL LINE BEING PINCHED BETWEEN THE FUEL PUMP INLET AND THE ELECTRICAL DIAGNOSTIC UNIT MOUNTING BRACKET. THIS COULD CAUSE A FUEL LEAK WHICH IS A FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 301, "FUEL SYSTEM INTEGRITY".

Manufacturer remedy

THE MOUNTING BRACKET OF THE ELECTRICAL DIAGNOSTIC UNIT WILL BE REPOSITIONED TO INCREASE CLEARANCE AROUND THE FUEL LINE. NEW BRACKET KITS WILL BE SUPPLIED BY MANUFACTURER FOR INSTALLATION ON FLEET OWNED VEHICLES.
