Defect description

Altec Industries, Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 2013-2025 AP45A trucks. The boom stow switch wire in the cargo storage area may become damaged, which can result in a short circuit, causing the wire to overheat.

Safety risk

An overheated wire can ignite flammable material in the cargo area, increasing the risk of fire.

Manufacturer remedy

Altec will instruct owners to inspect their vehicle and if the wire is not protected, order a kit that includes a bolt on guard to protect the wires, free of charge. Letters informing owners of the safety risk were mailed September 11, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN-3349.
