Defect description

ON CERTAIN VEHICLES, THE FUEL LINES CAN CONTACT A ROUGH EDGE ON THE TRANSMISSION CASE, RESULTING IN CHAFFED LINES AND FUEL LEAKAGE.

Safety risk

FUEL LEAKAGE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.

Manufacturer remedy

DEALERS WILL REPOSITION A CLAMP SECURING THE FUEL LINES TO THE BODY REINFORCEMENT MEMBER. OWNER NOTIFICATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING NOVEMBER 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT AM GENERAL AT 1-800-638-8303.
