Defect description

BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2023-2024 228i, 228i xDrive, and 2025 MINI Countryman S ALL4 vehicles. The bolts that connect the front body structure to the vehicle chassis may not have been tightened properly.

Safety risk

A loose front body structure may not adequately protect occupants in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Manufacturer remedy

Dealers will inspect and if necessary, tighten the front structure bolts, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 18, 2024. Owners may contact BMW Customer Service at 1-800-525-7417.

Owner complaints

A complaint is one person's report to a federal agency. It is not a finding.

No complaints in our copy of the federal file for this model year. The daily feed covers recent filings; older history appears only after a full-history rebuild.

Safety recall repairs are provided free of charge by franchised dealers, regardless of vehicle age or mileage. This page displays aggregated data for the model year. To check recall status for a specific vehicle, search its VIN at nhtsa.gov.
