Defect description

Braun Industries, Inc. (Braun Ambulances) is recalling certain 2021-2026 Chief XL I, Chief XL III, 2021-2025 Express Plus I, Liberty I, 2025 Express III, Select Chief XL I, and Super Chief I emergency vehicles equipped with a Pran system. The battery isolator may fail, causing a loss of electrical systems such as interior, exterior lighting, and patient support systems.

Safety risk

A loss of exterior lights can reduce the visibility of the vehicle to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash. A loss of patient support systems can delay care, increasing the risk of injury.

Manufacturer remedy

Braun Service or an authorized dealer will update the software, modify wiring, and replace the battery isolator, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 12, 2026. Defect description

Braun Industries, Inc. (Braun Ambulances) is recalling certain 2023-2026 Chief XL Type I, Express Plus Type I, Liberty Type I, RMT US Type I, and Select Chief XL Type I ambulances. The brake pedal switch may have been damaged, preventing the cruise control from disengaging when the brake is depressed. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 105, "Hydraulic and Electric Brake Systems" and 124, "Accelerator Control Systems."

Safety risk

Failure to turn off the cruise control may cause unexpected acceleration as the brake is released, increasing the risk of crash.

Manufacturer remedy

Braun Ambulances will replace the brake switch, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 27, 2025. Owners may contact Braun Ambulances' customer service at 1-877-344-9990. Braun Ambulances number for this recall is 2025-1.

In the event of a short circuit or wiring failure, the firmware in the node may fail to shut off the output pin, resulting in overloaded electrical circuits.

Defect description

Braun Ambulances (Braun) is recalling certain 2019-2023 Chief XL Type I, Express Plus Type I, and Liberty Type I ambulances built on Chevrolet medium and heavy-duty chassis. The Liquid Spring suspension systems may come in direct contact with the right rear brake line, causing excessive wear and possibly resulting in the loss of the rear brakes.

The loss of rear brake function can increase the risk of a crash.
