Defect description

WITH THE DRIVER SEAT IN THE FORWARD MOST POSITION, THE SAFETY BELT IS EXCESSIVELY TIGHT FOR PERSONS WHOSE DIMENSIONS ARE THOSE OF A 95TH PERCENTILE MALE, RESULTING IN NON-COMPLIANCE WITH FMVSS NO. 208, "OCCUPANT CRASH PROTECTION."

Safety risk

THE DRIVER WOULD BE DISCOURAGED FROM USE OF THE SAFETYBELT ASSEMBLY DUE TO THE UNCOMFORTABLE FIT, EXPOSING THE DRIVER TO A GREATERRISK OF SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT.

Manufacturer remedy

THE FACTORY SAFETY BELT BUCKLE ASSEMBLY WILL BE REPLACED USING A SUBSTITUTE BUCKLE ASSEMBLY WHICH HAS THE CAPABILITY OF BEING EXTENDED TO ACHIEVE THE PROPER FIT FOR 95TH PERCENTILE MALES.
