Defect description

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2011-2014 Ford F-59 commercial chassis vehicles manufactured December 17, 2009, to April 30, 2014. Corrosive environments, such as water mixed with road salt, may cause a short circuit between the electrical junction block and the mounting bracket/frame.

Safety risk

A short circuit may result in a fire.

Manufacturer remedy

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the junction block with an improved design, free of charge. The recall began on July 28, 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S11. Note: Since the short may result in a fire whether the vehicle is being operated or not, owners are advised to park affected vehicles outside until they have received the recall remedy.
