REAR AXLE MUST BE RERATED FROM ITS PRESENT 21,200 LBS. GAWR TO 20,000 LBS. AS THE MAXIMUM LOAD CARRYING CAPACITY OF THE AXLE TO COMPLY WITH FMVSS 121.

Defect description

A STEEL TUBE THAT DELIVERS AIR TO THE FRONT AXLE AIR BRAKE CHAMBER CAN CONTACT THE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER. CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT: REPEATED CONTACT CAN WEAR A HOLE IN THE TUBE, CAUSING AIR PRESSURE TO BE LOST DURING BRAKE APPLICATION. THIS COULD RESULT IN IMPAIRED BRAKING CAPABILITY AND AN ACCIDENT.

Manufacturer remedy

REROUTE STEEL TUBE AND/OR REPLACE, AS NECESSARY.
