Defect description

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: SCHOOL BUSES BUILT ON CHEVROLET CUTAWAY CHASSIS HAVE THEIR REAR EMERGENCY EGRESS ZONE PARTIALLY BLOCKED BY PASSENGER SEATS. THIS DOES NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS NO. 217, "BUS WINDOW RETENTION AND RELEASE."

Safety risk

IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, VEHICLE OCCUPANTS MAY NOT BE ABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE INCREASING THE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY.

Manufacturer remedy

OWNERS WILL BE PROVIDED WITH NEW SEATS AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS.
