Defect description

Nikola Corporation (Nikola) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Tre BEV vehicles. A resistor may degrade, causing the instrument panel to fail. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 101, "Control and Displays."

Safety risk

An instrument panel that fails to display critical safety information, such as the speedometer or warning lights, increases the risk of a crash.

Manufacturer remedy

Dealers will replace the instrument panel, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 4, 2024. Owners may contact Nikola customer service at 1-888-268-1181. Nikola's number for this recall is 24VDC0903.

Defect description

Nikola Corporation (Nikola) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Tre BEV vehicles. Coolant may leak inside the battery pack.

Safety risk

Leaking coolant can accumulate inside the battery pack, causing an electrical short and increasing the risk of fire.

Manufacturer remedy

Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures. The Main Battery Disconnect (MBD) switch should be left in the "ON" position at all times until the vehicle is repaired. Nikola will replace the battery packs, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed by October 12, 2023. Owners may contact Nikola customer service at 1-630-808-4531. Nikola Corporation (Nikola) is recalling certain 2022-2024 TRE BEV trucks. The electronic parking brake valve module (PVM) may fail to move into the park position when the parking brake is activated.

Safety risk

A parking brake that is not engaged as expected when the driver releases the brakes may allow the vehicle to rollaway, increasing the risk of crash.

Manufacturer remedy

Nikola Corporation (Nikola) is recalling certain 2022 TRE BEV vehicles. The shaft locking screw on the brake pedal may be missing or may not be fully threaded, which can cause the brake pedal to detach.

Safety risk

A detached brake pedal can cause a loss of pedal function, increasing the risk of a crash.

Manufacturer remedy

An improperly installed seat belt can detach during use, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.
