Defect description

THE LEFT HAND REARVIEW MIRROR CAN BE ADJUSTED TO A POSITION WHICH INTERFERES WITH THE OPENING OF THE EMERGENCY EXIT WINDOW LOCATED ADJACENT TO THE DRIVER POSITION. IN SUCH CASES, THE VEHICLE IS IN NON-COMPLIANCE WITH FMVSS NO. 217, "BUS WINDOW RETENTION AND RELEASE."

Safety risk

THE PASSENGERS MAY BE SUBJECTED TO INCREASED RISK OFINJURY IF AN ACCIDENT OCCURRS AND THE EMERGENCY EXIT CANNOT NOT BE USED.

Manufacturer remedy

DEALERS WILL FIX THE LEFT REARVIEW MIRROR ARM IN A POSITION TO ALLOW A CLEAR PATH FOR THE EMERGENCY WINDOW TO EXTEND: THIS WILL OPERATE INDEPENDENT OF THE ADJUSTMENT OF THE MIRROR HEAD FOR DRIVER'S VISION.
