Defect description

Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (Porsche) is recalling certain 2024 Boxster and Cayman vehicles. The safety clip that attaches the shift cable to the transmission may not be installed properly, which can prevent the transmission from locking in the park position when the shift lever is placed into park.

Safety risk

A transmission that does not lock into park as intended may result in a vehicle roll away, increasing the risk of a crash.

Manufacturer remedy

Dealers will replace the shift cable, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 3, 2024. Owners may contact Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243. Porsche's number for this recall is ARA7.

Owner complaints

A complaint is one person's report to a federal agency. It is not a finding.
