Defect description

ON CERTAIN ELECTRIC VEHICLES, THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER PUSHROD, WHICH CONNECTS THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE MASTER CYLINDER, COULD FRACTURE.

Safety risk

FRACTURE OF THE PUSHROD WOULD RESULT IN THE LOSS OF THE SERVICE BRAKES. DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER PUSHROD.

Manufacturer remedy

DEALERS HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED TO STOP SALE OF THESE VEHICLES UNTIL THE PUSHROD HAS BEEN REPLACED. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN MARCH 22, 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT FORD AT 1-866-436-7332.
