Defect description

Prevost Car (US) Inc. (Prevost) is recalling certain 2005-2024 X3-45, 2017-2019 and 2021-2023 X3-45 Commuter, 2006-2007, 2014, and 2018 H3-41, 2005-2020 and 2022-2024 H3-45, and 2019 H3-45 VIP buses equipped with a wheelchair lift. The wheelchair platform bridging device may be too steep, which can cause the wheelchair to become unstable. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 403, "Platform Lift Devices" and 404, "Platform Lift Installations."

Safety risk

An unstable wheelchair increases the risk of injury to lift occupants.

Manufacturer remedy

Prevost will replace the wheelchair lift bridging device, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed April 25, 2025. Owners may contact Prevost customer service at 1-866-870-2046. Prevost's number for this recall is SR24-26.

Defect description

ON CERTAIN MOTOR COACHES EQUIPPED WITH ZF/ARENS ASTRONIC SHIFT SELECTORS, A CELL PHONE PLACED IN THE PROXIMITY OF THE SHIFTER TOUCH PAD COULD CAUSE THE DISPLAY TO CHANGE FROM 'R' (REVERSE) TO 'D' (DRIVE) SHOULD THE PHONE RECEIVE A CALL.

Safety risk

THIS INTERFERENCE CAN CAUSE THE TRANSMISSION TO NOT OPERATE OR CAUSE IMPROPER SHIFTING, AS FORWARD GEAR CAN BE ENGAGED FROM NEUTRAL ONLY, IF THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN STOPPED, AND IF THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS BEEN DEPRESSED. IF THE MALFUNCTION OCCURS WHILE 'R' (REVERSE) IS BEING SELECTED, THE SHIFTER MAY POSSIBLY CHANGE TO 'D' (DRIVE), INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Manufacturer remedy

PREVOST WILL MAIL STICKERS AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS TO THEIR OWNERS AND WILL ALSO ARRANGE TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE UPGRADED. THE RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 13, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT PREVOST AT 1-418-831-5432.
